The 24 hours of comics: 6th edition!
The sixth edition, launched on Tuesday, January 24 at 3 PM, brought together 374 participants: professional authors, art school students and amateurs. 35 authors were physically present in Angoulême at the Maison des Auteurs and the other participants worked remotely via Internet.
This year the organizers called on Etienne Lécroart, an eminent member of the Oubapo like Lewis Trondheim, the initiator of the 24 hours of comics of Angoulême, to imagine the rules for the event.
As is customary, these were revealed at 3 PM, leaving much to chance up until the last moment because they were chosen by a random drawing, thereby offering a multitude of possible combinations.
The “race” ended 24 hours later, with a rich variety of stories.
The professionals who took part this year included Boulet, Sébastien Chrisostome, Lewis Trondheim, Marine Blandin, Zviane, Lorenzo Chiavini and Etienne Lécroart, of course. As for students, some schools specializing in artistic education programs mobilized large groups, such as the Ecole Européenne Supérieure de l'Image of Angoulême, the Académie des Beaux-Arts of Tournai and the Ecole Emile Cohl of Lyons.
All of the artwork can be consulted on line until the end of December 2012 on the site 24hdelabandedessinee.com .
We would like to thank all of the participants and all those who followed their work on-line and we look forward to seeing you for the next edition in January 2013.
