rules regarding remote participation in the "24-hour Comics Day"

Article 1: Purpose of the event

LA MAISON DES AUTEURS of the CITÉ INTERNATIONALE de la BANDE DESSINÉE et de l’IMAGE, which is located at 121 rue de Bordeaux – 16000 Angoulême – hereinafter called the Organizer – is organizing, in partnership with Festival international de la bande dessinée d’Angoulême, for January 26 and 27, 2016, an event called “The 24-hour Comics Day”.
The purpose of this event is to have each participant, belonging to one of three categories defined below, create a comic over a 24-hour time period, following a constraint defined at the Organizer’ discretion upon the event’s opening (3 pm) or during the 24 hours of this event.

All the plates will be put online by each of the participants in real time and will be available notably on the Internet sites www.24hdelabandedessinee.com and www.citebd.org up until December 31, 2016. However, the Organizer is entitled to remove them at their own discretion before this date.

Article 2: Participation conditions for the event

Any individual, regardless of their nationality, wishing to participate in this event may fill in, free of charge, the inscription form which is available on the following Internet address (www.24hdelabandedessinee.com). No entry form may be sent through the post.
All these people must fit in one of the following three categories :

1) PROFESSIONALS category

Any person claiming to belong to this category must have obligatorily published:
- either a comic book or illustrated book for young people with a professional publisher,
- or, at least an illustrated story in a trade journal.
Any publication which is privately printed, regardless of its nature, cannot be considered to register in this first category.
Any person allowed to participate in this event in this category, merely on their good faith, will be considered as having hereby certified the information indicated above.
Proof of these publications must be provided upon a mere oral and/or written request by the Organizer.
If, and/or assuming that the Organizer learns these publications are fictitious, the participant will be automatically and immediately excluded from this event. There is no likely recourse after this decision is taken.

After having duly filled in and sent the entry form, any person claiming to belong to this first category may be registered as a participant in this event. This is, all the same, under the condition that:
- Firstly, that this entry is validated by LA MAISON DES AUTEURS,
- Secondly, that a personal and non-transferable access code is given, allowing for a participant account to be opened.

2) ART SCHOOL STUDENTS category

Any person claiming to belong to this category must show that he/she is enrolled for the year 2015/2016 in an Art School, and have a valid student card to prove.
Every person in this category must submit, to the registration form, a copy of the student card of the current year. In case of non-acceptance of the application in this category, the organizer will provide a registration in Amateur category. It will be asked two comics pages to examine the application (see Amateurs category).
After having duly filled in and sent the entry form, any person claiming to belong to this second category may be registered as a participant in this event. This is, all the same, under the condition that:
- Firstly, the entry is validated by LA MAISON DES AUTEURS,
- Secondly, that a personal and non-transferable access code is given, allowing for a participant account to be opened.

3) AMATEURS category

Any person not belonging to the two first categories, will be part of the third category.
Any person belonging to this category must join to the inscription form along two of their comics pages where the theme and style are left entirely up to them.
Failure to do this will lead to an automatic rejection of the inscription request. There will be no recourse after this decision is taken.
After having duly filled in and sent the inscription form, any person claiming to belong to this category may be registered as a participant in this event. This is, all the same, under the condition that:
A selection Committee responsible for judging the comics pages previously mentioned, has authorized this registration, especially in regards to the quality of the work:
- Firstly, that this inscription is validated by LA MAISON DES AUTEURS,
- Secondly, that a personal and non-transferable access code is given, allowing for a participant account to be opened.
There is no recourse after the Committee has taken their decision.

In order to participate in this event, any person, regardless of their category, must be of legal age at the time of sending in the duly filled in entry form. No derogation will be granted on this account.

Any person, regardless of their category, wishing to participate in this event, has up until midnight – Paris time – on January 17, 2016 to register online with, for those belonging to the ART SCHOOL STUDENTS category, a copy of the student card of the current year, and for those belonging to the AMATEURS category, their two comics pages. The accompanying examples must necessarily be comics pages, the only illustrations are not taken into account.
